Getting started with VideoPad
Download, install and launch the VideoPad free video editor. The intuitive interface provides a main menu to access the relevant controls under the Home, Clips, and Sequence tabs, and under Effects, Audio, Export, Suite, and Custom.

'Home' displays a toolbar with all the tools you need to edit your video. 'Clips' is useful when you are using a large number of clips as it will hide the sequence preview to give you more room for finding clips. The 'Sequence' interface is much the same as Home with better access to the video tracks to fine-tune your effects. The 'Effects' tab itself provides you with access to the many effects and transitions provided - fade to black, fade to white, crossfade, zoom, dissolve, etc.; 'Audio' displays the same way as Sequence and Home but is optimized for fine-tuning audio effects. 'Export' is your access to uploading or saving your newly created video, and the 'Suite' gives you access to the other NCH applications you may have installed. Below this, at left, a panel of clip bins lets you store your video and audio clips and image files as well as sequences already created. At right, a preview screen at right enables you to view clips and sequences. At the bottom of the interface window, you'll find the video and audio timelines of your sequence. Clips can be loaded by dragging and dropping them to their respective bins from Windows Explorer, or you can use the File menu or right-click the bin. Playback your selected clip in the clip preview and trim off any unwanted frames at the beginning or end. Drag and drop clips from the clip bins into your sequence, apply the effects you want to use and add the audio, preview your newly created sequence and save or share it, or burn it to a DVD.
